In the budget on 8 March 2017, the Chancellor announced measures to providing additional relief for some Business Rate payers in 2017/18. We had already printed and posted our business rates bills before this additional help was announced.
Businesses who might be eligible for some relief include:
- pubs with rateable values below £100,000
- ratepayers who get Small Business Rates Relief or Rural Rate Relief this year, but are not eligible in 2017/18
The Government has not yet provided full details of the relief schemes. As soon as the details are announced, we will identify those who are eligible, and ask them to apply.
Additionally, we may receive some funding to help businesses who face the steepest increases in their business rates because of the 2017 revaluation and can demonstrate hardship.
When we receive more information on this, we'll publish details of how to apply on this page.
Until you have confirmation of whether you qualify for any of these reliefs, please continue to pay your Business Rates bill as normal.
